The 40th anniversary summer school of the Society of Cartographers will be held in the School of Geographical Sciences at the University of Bristol between the 6th and the 9th September 2004.

The Society aims to provide delegates with a stimulating and enjoyable summer school including sessions, workshops, visits and social events. Accommodation and meals will be provided in University of Bristol Halls (Clifton Hill House) in the Georgian heart of Clifton close to the city centre and local landmarks; Brunel's suspension bridge and SS Great Britain and more. All a short 10 minute walk from the School's building, where all lectures and workshops will be held.

Updated Provisional Programme

Cartographic visits will include a full and exciting two-thirds day visit to the UK Hydrographic Office in Taunton. For those wanting to stay closer to home, special interest visits in and around the city of Bristol are planned.

Our Annual Dinner/Ceilidh will take place at Ashton Court Manor, a short distance from the city across the Avon Gorge and Clifton Suspension Bridge.

Other activities planned include: Quiz night, Society AGM and much more!

Early arrivals will be welcome Sunday 5th pm - book early for cheap European flights to Bristol!

Those planning on attending the BCS Symposium (Durham) can also fly cheaply from Bristol to Newcastle if booked early.
